I know you have heard it all before. Eat healthy. Exercise. Reduce stress. Blah blah blah. But what if I told you that you can kick it up a notch by making 3 swaps to improve your health? I have been researching foods and experimenting even more lately since Alex has had some intolerances. I have cut out dairy, gluten, eggs, garlic and onions! I have had to be extremely creative to ensure I eat foods that doesn’t upset bubbas tummy.
Since my experimentation I have noticed massive improvement in my moods, weight loss and a much happier tummy for me. Let me tell you 3 of the swaps I have made so far:
1. Swap Cows Milk for Almond Milk
This was an easy swap for me as I didn’t have much dairy anyway. The only milk I used was on my morning porridge so swapping Almond Milk was easy and has had a great impact on my tummy.
2. Swap Pasta for Veggie Pasta
As the weather cools in this part of the world spaghetti bolognaise is a delicious comfort food for us. All I did was make zucchini pasta with a Diane peeler. It’s just like peeling a zucchini but it makes some lovely ‘pasta’ that I put into my bowl before adding the bolognaise. Delicious!
3. Swap Oats for Quinoa Flakes
This was a little more difficult as I love my oat porridge. After realising that the cost of gluten free oats was a rip off I decided to look for something that was a cheaper alternative. I often use quinoa for my lunch but have never used it for breakfast! All I did was swap the quinoa and made it with some almond milk and water, stewed apples, a splash of vanilla extract, rapadura sugar and top it off with crushed almonds and honey. So good! It is surprisingly filling and has no effect on my tummy. Win-win situation.
There are many other simple swaps you can make that will help with weight management and staying healthy whilst still enjoying food!
