I love teaching but it is exhausting work. I quite often found myself reaching for chocolate at rest time or eating an extra slice of forever flowing birthday cake that came in. Over the last 2 years I have not needed these extra pick-me-ups to get through until 3pm. I want to share with you 3 tips to boost your energy at work so that you can get through the day and have energy left over!
1. Green Smoothie
I have mentioned this amazing drink many times in my articles. You can read about one of them here. At the moment my favourite mix is; frozen banana, 2 collard leaves, 3 sorrel leaves, greens powder, ice and water. It is amazing for your energy and your health. This drink is great to have in the morning and I have it after breakfast or on my way to work. I also come home and make up another one of these beauties to get me through until dinner so I don’t eat everything in sight.
I also pack a great lunch to eat each day. I always pack the night before as I like my mornings to be as stress-free as possible. I usually pack a salad, some chocolate date balls and some fruit. Simple, delicious and gets me through the day.
This may seem a little weird to think that sitting down with your eyes closed will boost your energy but I sweat that when I meditate before going to bed at night I sleep so well. Meditation helps you clear your mind from the usual daily chatter and releases it from stress before going to sleep. Now, you don’t have to join a gym or pay money to trainers to get some great results from exercise. Simply watch a YouTube clip, go for a walk, do some squats during the ad breaks of your favourite TV show. Any exercise is better than none and your body will thank you. When you are fitter you have more energy. It also releases some happy hormones to help you get through the day. Try and find 15 minutes in your day to move your body.
These may seem like huge changes to your day but if you try it for just 1 week then I promise you will start to feel better.
