Almond Milk is one of my favourite drinks. Not the stuff that you can buy from the shop, that stuff tastes awful and so bland! Home made Almond Milk is the best stuff to drink and if you have time to watch one ad break through Home & Away (my favourite show by the way… don’t judge me!) you have time to make it.
1 cup of raw almonds
1 Litre of filtered water
1 tsp Organic Vanilla Essence
What to do:
Place almonds and water into a blender and blend until the almonds are really fine. My cheapo blender takes about 3 minutes to do this but if you have a fancy one it will take less time.
Add the vanilla and blend for another 30 seconds.
Over a wide mouth jug/container/whatever place in a nut milk bag/clean panty hose. Poor the milk through and strain the almond remnants from the milk. Put a lid on the container and place the milk in the fridge (I can not drink it warm. It has to be chilled for my liking!).
Use the leftover almond meal in a cake or date balls.
How easy is that! Now I have a nut milk bag which you can get from a health food shop but they are about $17. It does make it really easy and since I make this weekly then I think it is definitely worth while. You can use a clean panty hose so I’ve heard but I haven’t tried it myself. You just need to strain the nut from the milk. Be creative.
You can add this to any recipe that calls for milk, you can drink it nice and cold or add to your smoothies. It lasts about 3-4 days in the fridge.
