Kombucha. What the?
Kombucha is a fermented tea and an amazing probiotic drink. There is a lot of history about it which you can google if you’re into that kinda thing. I am more about why we should be drinking it. I brewed my first batch last week and I’m waiting for it to ferment. It is quite interesting because you actually use this bacteria to make it ferment which is called a scoby.
I was so nervous about making it as I thought I might get sick. We are so bombarded with information that bacteria is bad for us but in fact we need the good bacteria to keep us nice and healthy. In the western diet there is not much fermented foods available any more. We do have yoghurt but since I don’t eat dairy that was out for me. I kept looking and this is what I have found.
Now, I was going to film my gorgeous self making this tea so that you would be a bit more confident in making it yourself but I actually found some ladies who are a little bit more glamorous who have already made a video.
